Several Vikings named to IHSBCA All-District baseball team
After finishing the regular season ranked third in Class 3A, the Vinton-Shellsburg Viking baseball team has seen many of its players earning post-season honors.
The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has named its All-District teams.
Vikings recognized in the Northeast District include First Team honorees Nate Struve (pitcher), Will Edwards (catcher) and Tanner Davis (infield).

Vikings defeat S. Tama; to play Benton tonight for District Championship

Vikings wrap up best regular season in school history; prepare for Districts
The Vinton-Shellsburg baseball team lost by two in its regular season finale, but finished the season with the best record in school history, says Coach Jim Struve, who offered the following game summary:
Vikings lose 4-6 at Waverly. Game was tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the 6th inning when Waverly with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd hit an inside the park homerun to go ahead 6-3.
Parents's Night: Vikings win, 9-2 over Charles City
After introducing and thanking their parents for their support all season and throughout their baseball careers, the Vinton-Shellsburg baseball team wrapped up its home regular season with a 9-2 win.
Coach Jim Struve offered the following game summary:
The Vikings took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning, but gave up 2 runs in the top of the 4th inning on a couple errors.
Big week for Viking baseball: WaMac West Champs plan Parents Night, prepare for post-season on home field
After celebrating winning the WaMaC West Division on Friday with a split at No. 5 Marion, the 3rd-ranked Class 3A Vinton-Shellsburg Viking baseball team wraps up its regular season with a home non-conference game vs. Charles City tonight and a game at Waverly-Shell Rock on Tuesday. The Vikings hope to fill the local stands tonight for Parents Night, when they will honor their moms and dads for their support throughout this season, as well as their entire baseball careers.
