By Amber Pattee, Coach On Thursday evening all four VSHS bowling teams competed at Cedar Rapids Bowling Center against Marion. Three of the four teams came out on top and you could see the pride on all their faces of how they performed.

The Vinton-Shellsburg varsity wrestling team placed second in Saturday's North Tama tournament. Hudson was first with 187 team points; the Vikings scored175.

Nathan Harrelson's 416 led the VS bowlers during Friday's home meet. Vikette bowling teammates laugh with Erin Wood after she finishes her turn.

2008 VS alum Henry Bratten will replace Jim Struve as Viking head baseball coach. Henry and Alyssa Bratten, with children Jayce and Oaklee. Henry Bratten, who played catcher and pitched for Jim Struve as a VS Viking baseball player, will replace Struve as head coach when the 2018 season begins.

Marion defeated Vinton-Shellsburg on he varsity wrestling mat, 45-35, on Thursday in a double-dual. Marion earned 24 points via forfeit, the Vikings 6.

The day after Christmas, Vinton-Shellsburg alum Drew Wiley will compete in first of what he hopes will be four bowl games as a defensive tackle for the Kansas State Wildcats.
