Freshman Rachel Tandy led the Vinton-Shellsburg girls golf team in Monday's meet at West Delaware. The Vikettes finished fourth in the seven-team event.

Gustin makes late pass for victory at Benton County Speedway
Jenae Gustin used a pass in the final corner to earn top Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod honors Sunday night at Benton County Speedway.
Tony Olson held the lead at the drop of the green in the 20-lapper before Clint Luellen took command following a lap five restart.
Meanwhile, Gustin was working through the field from a fifth row start and settled into second just past the midway point.
Benton edges Vikette golfers at Tara Hills
VS golfer Lauren Tandy shot a 45 to earn the top medal, but the Benton Community team edged the Vikettes by two strokes during Thursday's dual.

Viking 8th graders win at Solon; 7th graders 3rd
The Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School boys track teams did well at the Solon meet last Friday, April 17.
The 7th grade team finished third; the 8th graders, following their undefeated 7th grade season, finished in first, 20 points ahead of the 2nd-place team.

Vikettes take second in tough conditions at Amana
It was a tough course and tough conditions, says Vinton-Shellsburg girls golf coach Janet Woodhouse. The Vikettes struggled, along with their competitors, against the cold, cloudy windy weather on a course that most had not played before. They did manage, however, to take second in the four-way meet.
