Former Vinton-Shellsburg athlete Ashley Strong has made college volleyball headlines twice this month First, her team at SWCC (Southwest Community College) has finished fifth in the NJCAA Division II Volleyball National Championship in Ohio.

Sophomore Lily Horst finished in fourth place in the Class 3A state girls cross country meet on Saturday in Fort Dodge. The Vikettes finished in 8th place with 211 team points.
