Vikettes defeat Independence in five-game match

     The Vinton-Shellsburg volleyball team defeated Independence on Tuesday night, but it took them the full five games to win the match. Game scores were:  25-18 23-25 17-25 25-20 15-6      The Vikettes improve their record on the year to 5-1. Their only loss was to Roland Story during the weekend Meskwaki Tournament.

Viking sophomores begin season with 24-6 win at Benton

Ben Hyland heads upfield in the VS sophomore victory at Benton.     Before the varsity's overtime win at Benton Community, the V-S sophomores also won, defeating the Bobcats 24-6 in their season opener. Lyons leads VS boys at Williamsburg; takes second

Shane Scott, Chris Boddicker win VPRD two-person golf tourney

VPRD winners: Shane Scott and Chris Boddicker        The Vinton Parks & Recreation department Two Person Best Shot Tournament was held this past Saturday at the beautiful Vinton Country Club.  There were 116 golfers that took part in this annual event that had over $3,500 worth of prizes and product donated to the event.        There were some pretty tough pin placements but the two-some of Shane Scott and Chris Boddicker handled the pressure shooting a 63 on the par 70 course.

Vikettes win four of five at Meskwaki Volleyball Tournament
