Zimmerman gets first feature win at Benton Co. Speedway
Justin Zimmerman reached Victory Lane in the Sports Mod feature for his first feature win in Vinton on Sunday. Other winners at the Benton County Speedway on July 3 included:

www. Spots open for Vinton Lutheran Home Golf Tourney
There is still time to sign up for the Vinton Lutheran Home Two-Person Best-Shot Golf Tournament on July 15th at the Vinton Country Club. Tee times are at 9:00am & 1:00pm, with lunch served in the Clubhouse from 11am-1pm. All entry fees & sponsorships are tax deductable. Fees are $50.00 for a 9-hole 2-person team, or $80.

Vikette Softball team gives formal salute to five seniors
At the end of each sports season, it is traditional for Vinton-Shellsburg programs to honor the senior members of their teams. Thursday night, the Vikette softball team gave a formal salute to five seniors whose accomplishments as a group are as historic as they are remarkable.
When Ashley Boyer, Sydney Etten, Paige Kreutner, Jena Relf and Kaley Womochil finally put away their bats and gloves for the last time, sometime later this month, they will leave behind a legacy of accomplishment that will be a new standard for each senior class to reach for.

Vinton-Shellsburg alumni continue to practice for contest against CPU July 8
The first of what organizers hope will be many Alumni Football games for former Vinton and Vinton-Shellsburg players will take place July 8. Organizer Randy Scheel and the coaches and players continue to work on their drills and plays during weekend practices.
Like they did while in high school, the players posed for a photo on the bleachers during their Sunday practice. Hogan, other familiar names return to Victory Lane

www. Two-out homer in 7th by Ashley Strong gives Vikettes N. Butler Tourney title
It's every ball player's dream. Last inning. Two outs. A chance to win the game.
For Vinton-Shellsburg junior shortstop Ashley Strong, that dream came true Saturday during the North Butler softball tournament. Strong and her Vikette teammates had won two relatively easy games, 12-0 over Clarksville and 8-4 over Lakesville. Basketball camps fill VSHS gym
More than 70 boys attended V-S Basketball Camp last week, while the girls attended Tuesday and Thursday fundamentals sessions with coach Deb Hanneman.
Boys coach Joe Johnson is very happy with the participation and says he believes it will translate into higher numbers for the high school teams.
Girls can still sign up for camp, says Hanneman.
