    The Vinton-Shellsburg freshmen/sophomore girls came in second place in the Mount Vernon-Lisbon invitational, with 53 points. MV-L was first with 33 and Waverly-Shellrock third with 55.

      It's been a tradition for the past several years for coach John Frazier and the Vinton-Shellsburg cross country team.      Both the boys and girls gather together at the Jorgensen house for a meal the night before their first contest of the season.

Vikings play for muffler during Blowout event

       In two weeks, the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings will play for a chance to ring the V-S Victory Bell.     Next week, they will open their season in Van Horne, where they will play for bragging rights and a chance to avenge last year's 21-7 loss.

Fall Blow-Out to include athletes in grades 7-12

     The Vinton-Shellsburg Fall Sports Blowout is FRIDAY NIGHT. The Blowout starts  at 5 p.m. with the FR/SO FB team scrimmage game, followed by introduction of athletes (4th-12th),  concluding with the varsity scrimmage game.
