With three top 10 finishers, the Vinton-Shellsburg girls cross country team earned a place in the State meet.

Sophomore Lily Horst finished second during the qualifying meet Thursday, at Waverly. Bristi Gerber, another 10th-grader, came in 6th; and freshman Cassie Kenney was 10th.

The girls team will compete in the Class 3A State event at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge on Saturday, Nov. 2.
