Sports : Vikettes set two school records; VS finishes 10th at Wamac

Lily & Grace Horst, Annika Schmidt and Bristi Gerber set school records at the Wamac meet.

Led by a 2nd place finish by its 4 x 800M relay team, the Vinton-Shellsburg girls track team finished in 10th place at the Wamac Super Meet in Tiffin on Thursday.

The 4 X 800 team of Lily Horst, Grace Horst, Annika Schmidt and Bristi Gerber set a new VS school record with a time of 9:45.11. Freshman Grace Horst also set a new VS record for the 1500M run with a time of 5:01.55.

Vikettes who placed included:

Maci Griffith, long jump,5th;

Sarah Schminke, long jump, 8th’;

Amanda Dedrick, discus, 3rd;

4 X 800 relay (Bristi Gerber, Annika Schmidt, Grace Horst, Lily Horst) 2nd;

Lily Horst, 3000M, 7th;

Bristi Gerber, 800M, 6th;

Grace Horst, 1500M, 5th.
