Brandi Gerber's 83 led the VS Vikette golf team to the championship in the 2017 WaMaC Girls Super Meet on Monday.
Although she lost the one-hole playoff and had to settle for the silver medal, Gerber's 83 tied forbest among the 88 players who competed in the event at the Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg. Playing on one of their two home courses, the Vikette edged 2nd-place Central DeWitt by seven strokes.
Coach's report from Janet Woodhouse:
What a day our golf team had at Wildcat! They've worked hard for this and their hard work paid off. Our goal is to have four of our varsity shoot in the 40s. This is the first time I have ever had six varsity golfers have EVERY round be in the 40s. And the first time I've had a team win the Super Meet (15 teams). I am so proud of each of these ladies. We had a lot of personal best scores and it was a great day to have this happen.
Five of our team were awarded medals. Brandi Gerber, junior, had a stellar day and tied for low meet score; she made the top seven at this meet so is named 1st team All Conference. Brandi had to return to the course and participate in a sudden death playoff to determine meet medalist and runner up. Junior Rachel Tandy (9th) and freshman Lillie Lamont (13th) made 2nd team All Conference. Seniors Emily Blake (21st) and Halie Engler (22) were part of the Honorable Mention All Conference group. Junior Alex Maynard missed a medal by one stroke.
V-S Individuals:
Brandi Gerber 42, 41 83

Lillie Lamont 44, 48 92
Emily Blake 48, 46 94
