Sports : Vikings win Williamsburg track meet

The Vinton-Shellsburg boys track team edged out Solon, winning the Williamsburg meet with 140 points on Tuesday.

"I was very happy with they way that we competed," said Coach Aric Chvala. " We didn't win a lot of races but we fought hard for every spot and in the end if we would have given up any spot in any race it would have come out different in the end."

The victory was a team effort, said the coach.

"It was a big of a team win as I have ever been a part of, we scored in sprints, mid distance, distance, hurdles, jumps and throws. I am excited to see just how good this team can end up being," he said.
