Alliant Energy crews heading to East Coast to assist in storm restoration

Alliant Energy has sent more than 100 employees to help people on the East Coast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Crews left Iowa and Wisconsin on Sunday morning and are headed to Lake Katrine, NY. This effort is in response to a mutual assistance call from all East Coast utilities, and Alliant Energy will be initially helping customers of Central Hudson Gas and Electric.

i wireless Builds Cash Reserve to Invest in Wireless Network Expansion Urbandale, IA ­ i wireless, a leading regional wireless communications provider, and TowerCo announced today that they have entered an agreement for TowerCo to purchase 119 i wireless towers for $45.5 million in cash (subject to post-close adjustments). The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2012 and includes a long term lease agreement for TowerCo to provide i wireless with wireless communications towers to support the company¹s GSM network.

New Cafe de Klos takes shape exactly as owner envisioned it -- only better

This hawk is one of many painted on the ceiling of the new Cafe de Klos restaurant in Vinton.   The first time that Gary Dvorak walked through the grassy area behind the façade of what used to be the front of the Vinton American Legion Hall, he envisioned every part of the new Café De Klos Restaurant. He saw the French Quarter, which captures the feel of a New Orleans city street, with balconies on each side. He saw the bird cage at the top of a winding staircase.

Money available for conservation practices through EQIP

  Has the drought left you looking for ways to conserve what little soil moisture you have left? If so, avoid fall tillage. As the sun heats bare soil it becomes hotter and moisture will evaporate faster, drying out the soil. Instead, consider conservation practices such as cover crops, no-till, and strip-tillage. These practices can minimize soil moisture loss and maximize moisture storage.

Buffet at Vinton, new location the latest steps in the La Reyna journey

The vegetable fijata is among the buffet favorites at La Reyna on Monday and Wednesdays. Carmen Legaspi did not set out to win the hearts and taste buds of four eastern Iowa communities with her authentic Mexican cuisine. She would have been happy cooking for her family – husband Carlos and their children – and their friends. She would have been content selling her beloved salsa, guacamole, pico de gallo and other items at that store in Columbus Junction or at Farmers Markets.

Clickstop Breaks Ground on 42,750-Square Foot Warehouse Expansion

E-commerce retailer Clickstop begins expansion project, which will triple the amount of warehouse space for its USCargoContol.com division. Growth continues at Urbana-based Clickstop where a warehouse expansion has gotten underway at the company’s headquarters for its USCargoControl.com division. Ground was broken in July to begin the construction project, which will add nearly 43,000 square feet to the warehouse portion of the building.
