The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA), and Pheasants Forever are hosting workshops for landowners and producers who would like to learn more about options available under the recently reopened Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). These workshops are free and open to the public.

Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Grant Application Deadline Nearing
Vinton Unlimited is pleased to announce applications are still being accepted for the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) grant. This grant fund is made possible through the collection of the hotel/motel tax within the City of Vinton. Groups that hold community events, work to promote the City of Vinton or encourage people to visit Vinton are encouraged to apply.

Cow Calf Conference to be held January 25
The premier educational event for Iowa cow-calf producers will offer a comprehensive package of information to attendees next month. The 49th Annual Cornbelt Cow-Calf Conference has been set for Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa. Patrick Wall, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach beef specialist, said this year’s conference will address new, timely and even controversial topics relevant to Iowa’s beef industry.
Iowa Beef Quality Assurance and BQA Transportation Sessions Scheduled for NE IA
Beef producers in eastern Iowa are encouraged to become Beef Quality Assurance certified, not just because it is the right thing to do, but because it also adds value to the calf crop.
