Department urges USDA to revise harvest timelines and negligent violation caps Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced that the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has submitted comments to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service on the Establishment of a Domestic Hemp Production Program interim final rule (IFR).
Business Improvement Grant (BIG) program announced
In partnership with the City of Vinton, Vinton Unlimited is excited to introduce the Business Improvement Grant (BIG) program. The BIG Program is made possible by funds received through the Hotel Occupancy Tax program within the City of Vinton.The objectives of the program are 1) to support rehabilitation and preservation of commercial property; 2) encourage new business; and 3) retain, revitalize and expand existing business in Vinton.

Two Advanced Calving Clinics Planned for Eastern Iowa
Dairy and beef producers are invited to attend one of two advanced calving clinics in mid-February in Edgewood and Dysart. Iowa State University Extension beef specialist Denise Schwab said anyone who attends will learn something new at the clinic regardless of experience with calving out cows.“These clinics will provide both classroom and hands-on activities presented by Iowa State faculty and private industry veterinarians,” she said.
