Nutrient management meeting set for Dec. 16

AMES, IOWA—Iowa Learning Farms, along with the Rapid Creek Watershed Project and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, will host a nutrient management meeting on Wednesday, December 16, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Morse Community Club in Iowa City. The event is free and open to the public and includes a complementary meal. Speaking at the meeting are ISU Extension and Outreach Field Agronomist Meaghan Anderson and Agricultural Engineer Greg Brenneman.

Vinton Unlimited announces punch card promotion

US Bank makes donation to 'Celebrate the Cedar River' project

Ann and Bob Harrison along with Brian Parr accept a $2,500.00 check from Jon Kremer Market President of U.S. Bank Vinton. The check is a grant from the U.S. Bank Foundation to assist with the “Celebrate the Cedar River” project. This project involved building a pavilion at Celebration Park which is nearing completion. The next step will be to add a twenty foot lithograph map on aluminum panels of the Cedar River in Benton County.

Cool Stored Grain Now

In the past couple of weeks a lot of corn and soybeans went into storage with temperatures in the 60s. With grain this warm, moisture migration within the grain mass and spoilage can occur very quickly, even with fairly dry grain. With average daily temperatures soon in the low to mid 40s, newly stored grain should be cooled down as soon as possible.

Dia de Los Muertos: La Reyna Mexican Restaurant to celebrate with buffet, music

La Reyna Mexican Restaurant invites everyone to celebrate with them La Dia de Los Muertos (the Day of the Dead, a favorite Mexican November tradition), this Monday, Nov. 2.  From 5 to 9 p.m. there will be music to accompany a special buffet.  Reservations are not required but you may call ahead to guarantee your table!    Carmen says "come hungry!" as there will be plenty of delicious food!    Carmen asked us to publish this as a reminder that the date was listed incorrectly in another publication.

Clickstop begins new expansion project

Urbana-based Clickstop officially broke ground October 19th for its new 53,080 square foot expansion. The company celebrated the event later in the week with employees, customers, and business associates attending a Tailgate-style event with food and games, as well as Q&A sessions and building tours for local media. Clickstop owns and operates several brands from its two facilities in Urbana.
