Rare collection of 120-year-old movies coming to Palace Thursday

A piece of history so unique that it has people telling the man who discovered it in eastern Iowa to share it in San Francisco and Paris is coming to Vinton tomorrow night. Despite its very unassuming name, The Brinton Silent Film Project is that uniquely and significantly historical, says Mike Zahs, the retired teacher and history buff who suddenly has found that sharing 120-year-old movies is a full-time gig.

Palace reminder: 'Home' on for 2 nights before Brinton Film Project

Remember, you only have two more chances to catch “HOME 3D – tonight and Wednesday at 7 pm!”  This animated delight has drawn big crowds for every showing. THE BRINTON SILENT FILM PROJECT featuring Red Cedar Chamber Music takes both the stage and screen on Thursday at 7 PM. Gerald and I had a chance to meet with John Hegarty, who portrays film archivist Frank Brinton, and film owner and historian, Michael Zahs, last evening in preparation for Thursday’s event.
