ACT I of Benton County is pleased to announce the cast of its upcoming production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson.  This holiday favorite is the story of the ragtag Herdman family and how their unexpected participation in a small church Christmas Pageant makes a lasting impression on the other participants.

VGH Sponsoring FREE movie this Sunday at the Palace

A curmudgeonly recluse whose heart is two sizes too small named the Grinch (Carrey) resides in his cave high atop Mt Crumpit with his dog Max, and plenty of lettuce juice, extra virgin castor oil and sour milk for sustenance. Annoyed by the out-of-control Christmas festivities in Whoville, the Grinch conspires to deprive the Whos of their favorite holiday, but comes to learn that the spirit of Christmas goes much deeper than tinsel and toys.

In Depth - Footloose

Kick off your Sunday shoes! The “Footloose” remake plays the Palace Friday, November 18 through Thursday, November 24 at 7 p.m. every night, and Monday, November 21 at 2 p.m. I loved, loved, loved Kevin Bacon in the first one. The girl (what was her name? has she been in anything else?) – not so much. I’m listening to my album from 1984 on the turntable as I type – it’s definitely well worn, but not skipping.

From the Front Row of the Balcony: 'Real Steel' is predictable, but fun

In one of the more popular episodes of "The Big Bang Theory," the main brains enter a robot contest with their arch enemy, Kripke, the arrogant and speech-impeded genius.     Their conversation about why they fight robots goes something like this: Leonard: Barry, we can't fight you tomorrow.

Reminder: The Vinton Palace will be closed on Tuesday, November 15

Do we really need to say more? ;)

In Depth - Real Steel

I’m not a big fan of boxing, for obvious reasons. However, a movie featuring robots that replace human boxers, coached by HUGH JACKMAN, is another story. “Real Steel” plays the Palace on Friday, November 11 through Thursday, November 17 at 7 p.m. nightly, and Monday, November 14 at 2 p.m. With a running time just over two hours, and a PG-13 rating for action, violence and language, you’ll want to leave younger kids with a sitter.

The Cat is Out of the Bag!

Come catch Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 6 at 2 p.m. at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Auditorium. Director Marcy Horst, with musical director Gerald Horst, choreographer Erin Horst Pit Band conductor Judy Trygstad, and Joan Cooling Dance Studio are proud to showcase 25 high school kitty sensations, 18 beetles, and 21mice on stage in the longest running Broadway musical ever.
