The Iowa State Legislature convened for a special session on July 11th to consider House File 732, also known as the fetal heartbeat bill. This bill prohibits elective abortions once a heartbeat is detected by ultrasound, which can be at about six weeks.This bill is almost the exact same one that was passed and signed into law in 2018 but had been blocked by a court injunction. July 13, 2023The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in a special join session with the EMS Advisory Council. Supervisors Seeman and Bierschenk were present, Supervisor Primmer attended through zoom. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at the conference room at the Benton County Emergency Operations Center.Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.
