The bill would create civil liability for commercial entities and social media platforms that “knowingly or intentionally” publish or disseminate obscene material to people under age 18.

The second week of the session was very busy and started with Iowa caucuses, which gave Iowa the proud and important opportunity to be the first state in the nation to get up close and personal with potentially our next president of the United States. Sue Cahill, D-Marshalltown, stood and led the room in singing the “The Star-Spangled Banner” during her closing comments.Cahill said she sang because “our Capitol is the perfect place to show patriotism,” but requiring the singing of the national anthem in school classrooms each day is not the best path forward as it would be “mandating patriotism for students.
