Image modifications of minors bill passes through Iowa House Subcommittee

By Jacob HallAn Iowa county attorney has worked in conjunction with their state representative to try and get ahead of a major threat staring teens in the face. House File 2049 attempts to address sexual exploitation of a minor by the knowing use of a visual depiction of a minor to create, adapt or modify a photograph or film with the intent to falsely depict the minor engaging in a prohibited sexual act or the simulation of a prohibited sexual act.

Hello, Iowa House District 84 from the State Capitol!

The third week of session at the Capitol was just completed and it’s been full steam ahead to hopefully finish by the end of April. On January 24th, I chaired a subcommittee for House Study Bill 576 (HSB 576). This bill is from the Natural Resources Committee and would permit the use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and off-road utility vehicles (UTVs) to be driven on roads in Iowa’s state parks.

Iowa Department of Revenue Helps You Prepare for Tax Time

With tax filing season upon us, the Iowa Department of Revenue is reminding Iowans of the many resources available that can assist taxpayers with filing their tax returns.The Department began processing individual income returns at the same time as the IRS on January 29. This is because Iowa taxpayers are required to provide their federal return with their Iowa return.

Des Moines University Students The third week proved to be hectic in the Iowa Senate, marking our initial full week of subcommittee and committee engagements. Given the shorter timeline in the second year of the 90th General Assembly, deadlines are approaching rapidly. Subcommittees delved into diverse subjects this week, spanning from education standards and student athletics to discussions on window tints and deer hunting.
