AUDITOR OF STATE ROB SAND IS THE TARGET OF EMAIL SCAM, WARNS IOWANS BE ON ALERT
Auditor of State Rob Sand today warned Iowans about ways fraudulent emails
can be designed to give scammers access to your tax dollars or bank account.
The warning comes after a scammer attempted to defraud the state and Auditor
Sand himself.
A Human Resources Associate with the Department of Administrative Services
(DAS) contacted Auditor Sand on May 13, 2022 to alert him to an email received
by DAS requesting a change in Auditor Sand’s direct deposit.
Gov. Reynolds signs several bills into law
Today, Governor Reynolds signed the following bills into law: SF2323 A bill for an act relating to the inventory of lands managed or owned by the department of natural resources or a county conservation board, and including applicability provisions. HF2372 A bill for an act relating to the nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy, and providing penalties.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2020, there were 10,893 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in the United States. In that same year, 58% of crash victims killed at night (6 PM – 5:59 AM) were not wearing their seatbelts. According to the Iowa DOT, 94 people were killed in 2021 on Iowa’s roadways who were not wearing their seatbelts.
Wiretap Lands Vinton man in Federal Prison for nearly four years
A man who conspired to distribute heroin, fentanyl, and other synthetic opioids was sentenced today to more than three years in federal prison. Ryan Rick Schlitter, age 39, from Vinton, Iowa, received the prison term after a January 14, 2022 guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin.
Expanding E15 Access Is a Win-Win for Iowa

The recently signed Iowa Biofuels Access bill expands access to E15, a clean-burning, homegrown, more affordable fuel choice. The bill is expected to increase the number of fuel stations carrying E15 by nearly 1,000 by the year 2026, from the roughly 300 stations currently offering the higher blend.
