Governor Reynolds issues New Proclamation

Today, Governor Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the Public Health Disaster Emergency. The proclamation permits salons, barbershops, and massage and tattoo establishments to reopen throughout Iowa in a limited fashion with appropriate public health measures in place. It also permits restaurants (but not bars), fitness centers, libraries, and race tracks to reopen in the 22 counties where they have remained closed.

Benton County Sheriff’s Department involved in high speed chase

At approximately 6:56 AM on May 12, 2020 the Benton County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle northbound on 11th Ave near Belle Plaine for traffic violation. When deputy activated emergency lights the vehicle the driver fled, and a pursuit took place at speeds over 80 mile-per-hour. The vehicle eventually stopped, and the chase ended at the intersection of 70th Street and Highway 21 in Benton County.
