County Supervisors Notes 4/9/24

Tuesday morning the supervisors met to conduct business. Following the approval of the agenda, minutes and claims, a Class C Alcohol License for Bloomsbury Farm was granted. The meeting moved on to approval of the Sheriff's quarterly report.Amy Buckley of the Riverview Center, read Resolution 24-29, a proclamation declaring April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Hello, Iowa House District 84 from the State Capitol!

The Iowa Legislature completed week 13 last week, and we’re making progress to finish possibly in the next couple weeks, with the budget bills being worked out in their respective committees right now.On Wednesday, April 3rd, the Iowa House passed an amended version of Senate File 2391, also known as the Meat Integrity Act. This bill basically requires labeling standards that state whether the contents of a meat product is from an animal or “lab-grown meat”.

Gov. Kim Reynolds signs law repealing gender-balance requirement for boards

BY: ROBIN OPSAHL Iowa state boards and commissions will no longer be required to have equal numbers of men and women as members.Gov. Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 2096 into law on Wednesday, ending the gender balance rule that was first implemented in 1987. At the bill-signing event, Reynolds said she voted as a state senator against a measure extending the gender balance requirement to local boards.
