Because we receive no tax subsidy from local or county government, I want to know who is going to care for our elderly if half or more of the funding for nursing home and home health services disappears as a result of proposed cuts to Medicaid in the health care bill currently under consideration in Congress.

Area health officials issue reminder of danger of ticks

Virginia Gay Hospital and the Benton County Department ofPublicHealth are recommending increased vigilance against tick bites. The IowaDepartment of Public Health has issued new alerts for tick-borne diseases in Iowa as a result of increases in tick-related disease transmission.
