Vinton Unlimited Celebrates Ehlinger's re-Grand Opening

Vinton Unlimited held a ribbon cutting at Ehlinger's Express to celebrate the new BP brand Ehlinger's Express celebrated their new look, new pumps and new brand with their grand re-opening on Saturday.In March, the business closed down for a few days to install new pumps adding the latest technology and security features under the BP brand. The business expanded its line of fuel offerings supporting Iowa's Agriculture industry. They added  E10, and E15 both ethanol blends next to the BP Ultimate, an ethanol-free alternative, and diesel fuel E15 to their offerings to the community.

Two vehicle accident on Sunday lands one car in a cornfield

Sunday afternoon the Benton County Sheriff's Department, Vinton Fire Department and the North Benton Ambulance all responded to a two-vehicle accident. The accident occured at the intersection of Highway 218 and 64th St., known locally as the Shellsburg corner. There were two cars involved in the accident with one car coming to rest in a cornfield on the northwest side of the intersection.

Local students earn Impact Award for commitment to volunteer blood donation

Area high school students will receive the ImpactLife Student Impact Award, given annually to students who have shown exemplary support of our region’s blood supply. The Student Impact Award Program recognizes the many ways students can support the blood supply: as donors, advocates, volunteers, and blood drive coordinators. Recipients of the Student Impact Award have completed one of the following activities while in high school: donated blood at least six times, recruited at least six new blood donors, or have hosted a local blood drive.

Vinton Community Foundation Distributes $36,963.00 to Local Organizations

The Vinton Community Foundation is announcing the distribution of $36.963.00 in grants to the following organizations serving the City of Vinton.Vinton Community Foundation & Local Option Sales Tax Fund - $30,963.00Old School Produce Partners-Purchase sunshade for the high tunnel (shelter growing structure) and construct a wall to protect the harvest from the elements.

VGH partners with Colton & Korina Stewart to bring Mental Health Awareness

In support of Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Month, Colton Stewart's race car is on display in front of Virginia Gay Hospital. This message is close to Colton and his wife Korina. Like Colton's race car, life has bumps and bruises, but help is available!The VGH staff are wearing green, the color of mental health awareness. Help to end the stigma and spread the word that everything is going to be okay! Talk about it and everything will be okay.

Vinton Public Library Needs Your Opinion

The Vinton Public Library is starting an exciting new season of strategic planning.  Strategic Planning is an essential part of the delivery of library services in our community and is one of the many standards of accreditation required of us through the State Library of Iowa.  Please take a moment to complete the following questionnaire, which helps us assess the success of our VPL 2020-2024 plan; watch for another survey this summer which will kick off the data collection portion of developing our VPL 2024-2028 plan.

Scam letter making its way through Iowa...BEWARE & SHARE

On May 1 the Webster County Recorder's Office assisted a resident with questions about a confusing letter they received, which was quickly identified as a scam and reported to local law enforcement.The letter claimed to be from “County Deed Records” with false information about the recipient’s home warranty expiration date. The letter also contained a “renewal fee voucher” for $199, which resembles a check and requests immediate action to call or be left vulnerable to repair costs.
