Beginning this year, Iowa deer hunters who harvest a buck will have a quick, additional piece of information to report as part of the harvest reporting requirement — the length of the main antler beam.

Hunters donated more than 4,500 deer hides to Elks Lodges across Iowa last year, which was an increase of nearly 600 hides from the 2022 season. The deer hides are used by the Veterans Leather Program to make professionally-crafted leather gloves for veterans in wheelchairs and also turned into leather used for therapy programs for recovering veterans.

Dr. Sara Stuefen of Vinton was awarded Fellowship in the American College of Dentists on October 5, 2023 during its Annual Meeting and Convocation.Dr. Stuefen currently serves as Trustee for the Iowa Dental Association, member of the ADA Council on Dental Benefits Programs, and is District 10 Trustee-Elect for the American Dental Association.

The VGH Annual Tree of Lights Tree Walk accepted the final bid on items on Saturday, November 18th at 11:00 A.M.  We are grateful for the amazing creativity of our VGH Staff, Community Businesses and Individuals who donated their Christmas creations providing holiday cheer! The displays were exceptional!
