One Iowan and Two Mexicans Sentenced to Federal Prison for Agreeing to Distribute Meth and Fentanyl in Waterloo Law Enforcement Officers Seized More Than 90 Pounds of Meth, 23 Pounds of Fentanyl, and Two Guns During Investigation             Three men who were involved in a Mexico‑based drug trafficking organization were sentenced today to significant time in federal prison.

Every year it's fun to watch our Vinton Fire Department share their knowledge with area children. The department visits children as young as preschool and through elementary age.

Operation EDITH is a fire-safety program that seeks to encourage the parents of young children to talk to their kids about the importance of fire safety.

The Center Point Historical Society's annual Cemetery Walk took place on September 18 at the Center Point Cemetery.  Among this year's five subjects who "talked" were a WWII Navy veteran, Raymond Durow, who survived the sinking of his ship by the Japanese; a 19th Century farm wife, Rebecah Leonard Gilchrist, who didn't survive a danger much closer to home; and John Osborne, a teenage soldier who survived the Revolutionary War.
