Ervin Celebrated for 60 Years of Kiwanis Service

Keith Ervin was celebrated for his 60th year of serving with the Vinton Noon Kiwanis Club in Vinton. Tuesday's meeting began with a plaque presentation to Ervin who has been a staple in the Vinton community his whole life.

Area Clinic receives and distributes 100 doses to area residents

Unity Point Health Family Practice had a packed parking lot on Thursday evening. The clinic had received 100 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Moderna.

One dies, a second injured in attempt to evade police

One man is dead following a police chase through Linn and Benton County. The chase began in Atkins, beginning at 3:49 a.m. on Wednesday morning.A Linn County Sheriff’s deputy saw a silver Dodge Grand Caravan that displayed no license plates and was acting suspiciously in a residential area in Atkins.

Shellsburg Elementary Celebrates Favorite Book Character

Tuesday, Shellsburg Elementary students were invited to dress up like the favorite book character. Hands down, Harry Potter had the most look likes. But the cat in the hat made an appearance as well as Waldo, although I couldn't find him.
