At the Union Community School District’s School Board Meeting, the Board voted to accept a contribution of $250,000 to name a new gymnasium in honor of Kate Craft. Kate passed away in December 2023 at the tender age of 16. She valiantly fought a two year battle battle with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. The Craft family made the donation to honor their daughter a student at the school.

Dr. Foggia brings over 25 years of experience in emergency medicine, family practice, and osteopathic manipulative treatment. He is board certified in Family Practice and has held leadership roles as Medical Director and Chief Resident throughout his career.

The Homecoming King and Queen of Vinton Shellsburg have been announced for the  2024-2025 school year.This year Brady Bruce and Izzie Birker have been crowned as royalty. Congratulations!

Dean Vrba, Benton County Emergency Management would like to "advise the public to stay out of the water throughout the weekend." following the following notice from the The Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The DNR is investigating a wastewater discharge at the City of Nashua. On September 18, the DNR Field Office in Manchester was notified by the City of Nashua of a wastewater discharge due a leak in a wastewater force main which runs under the Cedar River.

The Vinton Shellsburg Community School Board honored the time and dedication of numerous individuals to support the strength and conditioning program for middle school and high school students during the summer and throughout the school year.These individuals assisted with the program: Joe Hadachek, Aric Chvala, Jaice Hadachek, Don Lyle, Aaron Zuspann, Brian Sheston, John Adelmund, Cody Robertson, Patrick Horst, Brandt Corcran.

The contest featured Dairy Cattle Judging and Dairy Foods Evaluation. The Dairy Cattle Judging teams included Bridgette Castle, Bri Dulin, Kirsten Pettit, Braxtyn Stevens, Jameson Demuth, Will Kreutner, and Jessen Demuth.
