Since I submitted my background information in a prior article, I would like to take the opportunity to explain why I am the best candidate for Benton County Supervisor. My goals are simple and are answers to the highest priority problems I feel Benton County is currently experiencing.1. Honesty, Transparency, and Trust. Volunteer Auction Funds V-S FFA Activities

The auctioneer kept the night moving with 44 members participating! By: Co-Reporter, Izzie BirkerOn Monday, April 8th the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter held their annual Volunteer Auction. At this event, members can sign up to volunteer their time within the community doing a variety of tasks including basic chores like mowing or cooking, babysitting, working concession stands, picking rock, and gardening just to name a few.

In the greenhouse this year, there were many different varieties of flowers, hanging baskets, planter boxes and so much more! During the sale, the High School Greenhouse Management students and FFA members came in to work the sales to enhance the customer experience.

Local churches are calling for volunteers to help staff summer lunch program

 The Vinton Area Ministerial Association, on behalf of the Vinton Shellsburg Community School District summer lunch program is calling for volunteers! Starting June 3rdon Monday through Friday, volunteers are needed at Tilford Elementary and Shellsburg Elementary from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Those who volunteer will be taking part in a program that invites all children to a free lunch Monday through Friday.

V-S FFA Shows Skills at District Ag Mechanics

Dallas Fairbanks, Jacob Dudley, and Wes McKenna received By: Co-Reporter, Izzie BirkerOn Wednesday, April 24th members of the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter traveled to Calmar for the annual District Ag Mechanics Career Development Event. Two teams of three were able to compete including Dallas Fairbanks, Evan Lopata, Jacob Dudley, Andrew Allsup, Ben McGowan, and Wes McKenna. These students used their skills to stand out in the Northeast District by being tough competitors.

My answer was.  "No." I had committed my time to the Iowa Corn Growers Association and I wanted to finish my term by giving my full attention to the organization. My term ends in a few short months. I have been asked again if I would please consider this cycle for supervisor.
