Mt. Auburn's Water Utilities gets a new face

Before, it was just a plain white building... Vinton-Shellsburg art students arrived in Mt. Auburn. Armed with a plan, paint brushes and paint the students came to paint a mural on the water utilities building.  Lindsay Otto was approached by Cody Lundry, a member of the Mt. Auburn City Council, to create a mural on the water utilities building. Ms. Otto opened the opportunity up to anyone in the school to participate.

Local Winning Whiskers (Longest & Most Historic) from Vinton & Center Point

Hereford Farms Earn Honors in Iowa State Fair Show

Tyler Davisson of Calamus took home the Grand Champion Horned Female and Champion Iowa Horned Female awards in the Hereford Show judged at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.Emmett Lovrien of Clarksville received Reserve Grand Champion Horned Female.Patrick Wall of Pleasantville claimed the Grand Champion Bull and Champion Iowa Bull. Macy Macke of Lake City received the Reserve Grand Champion Bull award.

Mt. Auburn updates on Stop Sign placement and Shelter Removal

Stop signs will be placed in these locations in Mt. Auburn "The city of Mt. Auburn will open all sealed bids postmarked no later than September 25, for the ownership of the collapsed Shelter Building including removal and disposal of all structure material excluding the concrete." That was a statement released by the City of Mt. Auburn following a mishap over the weekend. (The full notice from the city can be seen in the photos concerning submitting a bid for removal.

Vinton Shellsburg Homecoming Week

Candidates for Homecoming King and Queen Announced It's that time of the year! It's time for Vinton-Shellsburg's Homecoming week. This year the Vinton Vikings will face West Marshall of State Center for their Homecoming game.On Monday, the process had begun. The students chose the top ten nominees for Homecoming King and Queen. FFA Vegetable Exhibitors Win State Fair Honors

Iowa Celebrates AmeriCorps 30th Anniversary

To celebrate the wrap up of AmeriCorps' year-long 30-year anniversary celebration, AmeriCorps and Volunteer Iowa celebrated with a one-day event on Friday, September 13, 2024. One hundred and fifty AmeriCorps members, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers and staff served with community organizations at one of six locations in Iowa - Oelwein, Cedar Rapids, Vinton, Dubuque, and Muscatine.

Changes in the Law, require updates to Vinton Ordinances
