If you missed the announcement before Thanksgiving, Vinton has been chosen to be an overnight stop for Iowa’s Ride. The inaugural Iowa's Ride will go from Dubuque to Rock Rapids on its 416-mile journey across the state.

DNR investigating hunting incident involving man shot in the leg

On January 11, 2020, at approximately 12:21 pm, a man was shot in the leg while pursuing a coyote across a field near Keystone, Iowa.Brian McManemy, 41, of Blairstown, was a passenger in a pickup truck while coyote hunting when one of the firearms in the vehicle discharged and struck him in the left leg.

McVay No. 2 for Meth Distribution in Vinton from 2016-17 taken off the street

Being Number 2 in Meth distribution is not something to be proud of. Local officers believed that David Joe McVay, 41 held that distinction. Producing meth that was 95% percent pure, he sold the meth to a confidential informant on four separate occasions in 2017.
