By Jan Kendall After five years of research, including the collection of photos and materials, the book The History of Luzerne is completed. There are two hundred pages containing information about Luzerne's rich history and over three hundred photos of the community of Luzerne.

The following students from our area are among the students named to the Fall 2017 semester Dean's List at the University of Northern Iowa. To be included on the list, a student must have earned a grade point of 3.

Upper Iowa University has announced the Dean's List for the 2017 fall semester. To be honored, a student must have earned a minimum 3.50 grade point average for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student.

These VSHS speech students advanced to the Feb. 3 State speech event. These are the 2018 VSHS large group speech participants. Vinton-Shellsburg Speech participants competed at the Iowa High School Speech Association's District Large Group Conteston Saturday January 20th at Montezuma.
