Dear Vinton Today Readers,Rarely will you find me with a trembling chin and tears in my eyes...at the post office. But that's where I was this week. I had made my trip to the post office and was amazed by the number of letters filling my box.

4th St. Diner asks and the Community Delivers

A week ago, Vinton Today had an S.O.S. call come in from the 4th St. Diner. The Diner is where our senior citizens meet for a noontime meal and some fellowship, or if needed the Diner provides meals to those who can't leave the house.

Area Memorial Day Services held across the County

On Monday, the local American Legion Post held a Memorial Day Service meeting at the Cedar River bridge. Fritz and Sue Noren lowered a wreath into the river in remembrance of Veterans that were lost.

Vinton's Downtown made more beautiful with Flowers

The Cottage Garden Society along with help from the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department came up with a plan to make downtown Vinton bloom. Planters were added to the light poles in the downtown are where baskets were placed.

Have fun and stay safe on the water this summer

Iowa lakes and rivers will soon be busy with paddlers, boaters, swimmers and people wading to search for fossils, rocks and driftwood or to clean up litter.
