Easter Services and Activities in Vinton
Vinton Area Ministerial Association Holy Week Services will be as follows:The public is invited to brief Holy Week 7:00 a.m. worship services Monday through Thursday, and at 12:00 noon on Good Friday. These services are sponsored by five Vinton Area Ministerial Association churches. A freewill offering at each service replenishes the Ministerial Association’s emergency aid fund.
NO ONE IS A GOOD DISTRACTED DRIVER
April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. April 1-8, the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) is partnering with law enforcement across Iowa to curb the alarming and unsafe trend of distracted driving. To deter multitasking while driving, GTSB is launching a new campaign targeting overconfident drivers and reminding everyone: No One is a Good DISTRACTED Driver.
Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Members Bring in the Old and New Tractors!
By: Co-Reporter, Izzie Birker On Tuesday, March 19th members of the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter brought in some of their old and new tractors for the annual Drive Your Tractor to School Day. They rallied a grand total of 13 tractors for the event. After school all of the members who drove a tractor gathered together for a group picture at the end of the parking lot. The deadline to file was 5:00 p.m on Friday, March 22, 2024.If you are a registered Democrat or Independent but would like to vote for one of these candidates in the primary, you will need to change parties to Republican in order to vote. After the primary, you can change back.
2024 Soil & Water Conservation Poster Contest
1. Competition is open to Benton County students in Kindergarten through the 12th grade. Students should submit their entries to the Benton Soil & Water Conservation District office at 1705 W Dst, Vinton IA. There are five Divisions -- Division 1 - Grades K and 1Division 2 - Grades 2 and 3Division 3 - Grades 4 through 6Division 4 - Grades 7 through 9Division 5 - Grades 10 through 12 2. Benton County accepting applications for Benton Co. Veterans Affairs Commission
The Benton County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for the Benton County Veterans Affairs Commission. This is a three-member commission that provides guidance and oversees operations of the Benton County Veterans Affairs Department. This position is a 3-year term and does require an applicant to be a veteran. Any veteran interested in this position will be filling this seat until the end of the current term which is June 30, 2024.
Iowa Secretary of Ag Visits area Farm
Everyone has a bucket list of sorts, and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is no different. Last week, during the snowstorm, he was able to check one of those items off his list. He made a stop at the Wayson family farm in rural Mt. Auburn on Friday and was able to catch up with the family. Naig is no stranger to the Waysons. Last summer at the Iowa State Fair, Naig was paired with Emma to compete in the Iowa Governor's Charity Steer Show. V-S parents receive notice of possible threat
Parents of middle school students in the Vinton-Shellsburg School District received notice that a student had issued a threat on Monday. However, the school reassured parents that the threat had been investigated..The notification from the school reads, "Following the conclusion of school today we had notice of a possible threat at the middle school.
