Clipper Corner holds Annual Fundraising event for Gifts of Hope

In October each year, since 2018, Clipper Corner pulls out all the stops to help the Gifts of Hope Foundation with their fundraising efforts. The shop is in its 37th year and is helping to lend a hand to those who need a little extra help during a breast cancer diagnosis. Clipper Corner in its first year raised $725 and has beat the previous year's fundraising.

Online Groups Extort Minors to Self-Harm/Produce Child Sexual Abuse Material

The FBI has released the following notice. Parents be aware.---The FBI is warning the public of violent online groups deliberately targeting minor victims on publicly available messaging platforms to extort them into recording or live-streaming acts of self-harm and producing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These groups use threats, blackmail, and manipulation to control the victims into recording or live-streaming self-harm, sexually explicit acts, and/or suicide; the footage is then circulated among members to extort victims further and exert control over them.

They woke up bright and early to attend Tri-State Dairy Foods and Dairy Cattle Judging in Calmar at the NICC Campus. “I didn't feel as prepared as everyone else, but this was my second year doing this competition so when I got there I felt better,” is how Braedon Hepker felt arriving at the competition.

City to begin to Enforce Sign Placement

It's the political season again which means, it's time for piles of junk mail, I mean political flyers and yard signs. The Vinton Police Department put out a reminder about where yard signs can be placed. I had no idea this was a thing until about 30 years ago. I happened to live across the street from a polling place, and on one side of the sidewalk in the tiny yard was a swingset and the other side was all that grass not being used.

Joe Gotta Go Tour bus stops in Vinton on Thursday and Friday

Updated: The bus will remain here through Friday-Bob DuCharme was contacted by the “Joe Gotta Go Tour" looking for a place to park their bus in downtown Vinton today. The bus will be at Tactical Creations until dusk today. The idea of the group was designed to preserve America and educate fellow American's about conservative values. The tour also provides the opportunity to host SLAC (Sistas Learning About Conservatives) Round Tables in across the country.

Coffee with a Cop enjoyed by VGH Nursing and Rehab Residents

Lee and Marlene Overton talk with Deputy Upah It's never good if the cops show up at your door...unless you invited them over for a cup of coffee and a chat. That's what the Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab did on Wednesday. The Lori Smith organized the Coffee with a Cop with the Benton County Sheriff's Department who sent Deputy Dave Upah. Upah took some time out of his day to sit and talk with residents who live at the facility.

Benton County Community Foundation’s Grant Deadline Approaching

The deadline to submit grant applications to the Benton County Community Foundation’s 2023 grant cycle is 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 15. Technical support will be available to applicants until 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 13. The online grant application can be found on the Community Foundation’s website at www.bentonccf.org. Grants are awarded to projects within the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service.
