VINTON:      Elvis M. Hinz Forsyth, 89, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness.      Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton with Rev. Jessica Crane-Munoz officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Elmer Leo Day, 84 of Vinton, passed away on Thursday November 28, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital Hospice unit, Cedar Rapids.  Cremation has been held at his request.  A memorial service will be held Saturday December 7, at 1 P.M. at Blessed Hope Church in Vinton. Inurnment will be at the Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids at a later date.

BLAIRSTOWN:     Dixie Rae Dellamuth, 66, died Sunday, December 1, 2013 at her home in Blairstown following a battle with cancer.      Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Blairstown Legion Hall.  Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown.

Jeannine D. Slezak, 56 of Vinton, died following a brief illness.  Visitation is on Saturday November 30, at the Vinton Shellsburg Middle School Library 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a memorial service directly following the visitation at the library. Gordy Turek will be officiating. Her body has been cremated. She is survived by her husband Randy, daughters Regina (Jared) Malaska and Jessica (Justin) French, father Rodger Schubel and wife Lois, sisters Denise Railsback and Lynn Barrett and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

ATKINS:    LaDean Meta (Glandorf) Haerther, 74, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Vinton Lutheran Home.      Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins with Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating.  Interment will be held at St. Stephen's  Cemetery, Atkins.

Beatrice Caroline Losenicky, 91, of Cedar Rapids, and formerly of Dysart, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vinton. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 27, 2013, from 4 to 7 pm, at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart, and an hour prior at the church.

KEYSTONE: Herman (Herb) Allen Paulsen of Coralville, and formerly of Keystone, passed away at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center, November 23, 2013.        Herman was born on the family farm outside of Keystone, Iowa, July 17, 1929, the son of Herman and Ella (Tecklenburg) Paulsen. He attended country school and graduated from Keystone High School in 1947.

     ATKINS:  Joanne M. Svejda Bright, 78 of Atkins died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.      Public Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton. Private Committal Services will be held at St.

HOMOSASSA, Fla. – Walter Glen "Bus" Pardun died at his home in Homosassa, Fla. on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7:55 p.m. under the care of Hospice.  He was born in Benton County, Iowa on Nov. 20, 1919 and grew up on the family farm attending a country school and graduating from the Brandon High School in 1937. He was married to Patricia Jane Smith, who survives him, on Nov.

VINTON:      Venoa Violet Swartzbaugh, 98, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness.      Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Urbana Christian Church in Urbanawith Rev. Melanie Van Weelden officiating.  Interment will be held at the UrbanaCemetery.
