LaVonne Boddicker

LaVonne Boddicker NEWHALL – LaVonne Boddicker of Washington, D.C., formerly of Newhall, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on March 5, 2014. LaVonne was born at home in rural Newhall on June 16, 1940, to Carolyn (Davis) and Leo Boddicker. She graduated from Newhall High School at 16 years of age in 1957. She attended Mount St. Clare Junior College in Clinton and graduated magna cum laude from Viterbo College in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1961.

Dale E. Lenaburg

 Dale E. Lenaburg ATKINS:     Dale E. Lenaburg, 75, died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.      Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Edgewood Family Fellowship in Cedar Rapids with Pastors Peter Kolb and Roger Goodson officiating.  Private Committal Services will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL.

Marshall 'Bud' Dripps

Marshall URBANA:     Marshall "Bud" Dripps, 92, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.      A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Urbana Methodist Church with Pastor Sheri Anderson officiating.  Friends may register at service time.

Della Marie (Mary) Ball

Della Marie (Mary) Ball, age 91, a resident of Creekside at Elfindale in Springfield, MO, entered into her Heavenly home to be with her Savior on Sunday, March 9, 2014. She was born September 5, 1922, in Vinton, IA, to Gustav and Maria ( Johansson Karlsson) Krohn who had immigrated from Sweden in 1917. Mary went to grade school in a one room school house.

Lucylle H. Struve

Lucylle H. Struve VAN HORNE:  Lucylle Helen Struve, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 9, 2014.      Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 10:30 am at Salem United Methodist Church in Van Horne with Rev. Grant Vander Velden of First Presbyterian Church in Waukon officiating.  Interment will be held at Salem Cemetery in Van Horne.

John Smalley

MT. AUBURN:      John Smalley, of Schaumburg, IL and formerly of Mt. Auburn, died March 6, 2014 in Schaumburg.  John was born June 14, 1935 to Harold and Ella (Struve) Smalley.      He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ruth, and brothers, Roy and Norman.      John is survived by his sister, Doris Wood Pippert of Vinton, brothers, Lee of Menomonie, WI, Jim of Quincy, MA, and Gene of Schaumburg, IL.

Kenneth F. Horning

VINTON – Kenneth Freeman Horning, 76, died March 7, 2014, at his home in Vinton due to an accidental fall. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church. Inurnment with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Kenneth was born November 20, 1937, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Ethel Pingenot Horning.

Strait, 84, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at his family home where he lived his entire life, surrounded by his family and friends.      Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Pastor Zach Zajicek officiating.

Francis Porter VINTON:     Frances Porter, 91, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton following an extended illness.      Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton, with Pastor Darran Whiting officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
