Vinton—John H. Kearns, age 83, died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a brief illness.

VINTON: Russell T. “Ted” Cottrell, 86 of Vinton died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Rock Ridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg following an extended illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Mark C. Urlaub officiating. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 25, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick officiating. Dedicated husband and respected father Darrel Richard Olson died in his Menomonie, Wis., home on March 10, 2011 after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with prostate cancer.
Mr. Olson was born on February 17, 1948, in Vinton, Iowa, to Erick and Vernie Olson. He grew up on a farm until attending Iowa State University for agriculture. Vaughn R. Franklin

Tama—Geraldine Ann Hegewald Boddicker, age 87, died Sunday, March 06, 2011 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 900 Park St., Tama, with Fr. Michael Mescher as celebrant. Gage Allen Robinson-Emerson, age 3 months, the son of Dawn Smith and Thomas Emerson, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Gage was born with a heart defect and survived open heart surgery on November 22, 2010, and got to come home on February 9, 2011. He loved his swaddler and his binky and had a loud voice. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Van Horne, with the Rev. David Lingard officiating. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Jean "Peggy" Maher, 73 of Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of Van Horne and Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Friday, February 25 2011, in her home following a long illness.
Peggy was born January 8th 1938 in Iowa City, the daughter of Edwin and Regina (Donahue) Maher from Van Horne, Iowa. Peggy graduated from Van Horne Consolidated High school in 1956. Carlos Lee Phillis
