Gov. Kim Reynolds signs law repealing gender-balance requirement for boards

Iowa state boards and commissions will no longer be required to have equal numbers of men and women as members.Gov. Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 2096 into law on Wednesday, ending the gender balance rule that was first implemented in 1987. At the bill-signing event, Reynolds said she voted as a state senator against a measure extending the gender balance requirement to local boards.

Week in Wrap
Week twelve has concluded, and now we're reuniting with our families for Easter
celebrations. The legislative season is rapidly approaching its scheduled conclusion on April
16th. After addressing further legislation this week and deliberating on the governor’s
appointees, our attention will be shifting towards budget matters.
On Tuesday, March 26th, the Iowa Senate voted on HF 2612 again with the new House
amendment. Supervisor notes for 4/2/24 (Part 1)
This week's Supervisor began with approval of the agenda. Approval of three sets of minutes of March 26, 2024 was given. Revised minutes of March 19th were also approved. Moving on, a budget hearing for Fiscal year 2025 was set for April 23, 2024, at 9:15. $6,010 had been paid for the last required mailing by the Auditor's Office, another bill came in for that, totaling $15,136.
