A Special Thanks from Vinton-Shellsburg Red Cedar Shooters

The Vinton-Shellsburg Red Cedar Shooters Trap Team received a donation from the Prairie Creek Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited On July 14th, 2024, the Vinton Shellsburg Red Cedar Shooters Trap Team held a fun shoot at the Vinton Izaak Walton League,  and season wrap-up at Kula’s It’s Just Sauce,in Walker. This event recognizes our athlete’s many accomplishments during the 2024 trap season. The Prairie Creek Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited joined us at our fun shoot to present the team with a $7,500 donation.

Racing for Autism, Christie Door Company Night Sunday at The Bullring

Christie Door Company is sponsoring a big night this Sunday, August 4 at Benton County Speedway. The PRO Late Model Tour and kids’ power wheels races will join Sunday’s IMCA weekly racing program on Racing for Autism Night at The Bullring. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by Wright Way Trailers, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by iHeart Radio and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts will enter the final few weeks of points racing Sunday.

Wolf gets first win, Rundle repeats at Benton County Speedway

It was a memorable Sunday for Will Wolf at Benton County Speedway. The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod driver raced to his career first win on the fast, smooth, quarter-mile Bullring. Robert Patava led the early stages of the 15-lapper while Wolf worked into contention from a second row start. He took command a handful of laps into the event while Kyle Olson and Tony Olson made their way through the pack.

Vinton-Shellsburg Wrestlers 1-3 in the Pitching for Pins Series

In the 4th Annual Pitching for Pins, the annual fundraiser for the benefit of the Vinton-Shellsburg wrestling team, the wrestlers pulled off the first ever win over the Vinton Police Department. With a score of 13-6 the wrestlers won the game in the competition. The Vinton-Shellsburg Wrestlers, Managers and Coaches wish to thank all of the community for their kind words and support.

IMCA Weekly Racing, plus Legends, A.I.R.S. Sunday at The Bullring

The IMCA Weekly Racing season rolls on this Sunday, July 28, for Mountain Dew Night at Benton County Speedway. All weekly classes will be in action on The Bullring, including the INEX Legends presented by Legends.Direct and the American Iron Racing Series (A.I.R.S.). Only a handful of events remain this season to determine track champions.

Pitching for Pins - Wrestling Fundraiser this Saturday, July 27

If you are not doing anything this Saturday evening (July 27th), plan to join the boys/girls wrestling teams as they take on the Vinton Police Department in a slow pitch softball game at the 4th Annual Pitching for Pins wrestling fundraiser! The wrestlers will be coming for their redemption and working to bring home the traveling trophy for the 4th year in a row! Gates open & other activities start at 4:00 PM with the game beginning at 5:00 PM.

Olson, Cordes top Urbana 5 make-up features at Benton County Speedway

One week was worth the wait for Kyle Olson and Troy Cordes. The July 14 Urbana 5 Memorial program was cut short due to rain, forcing the postponement of the headlining events to July 21 at Benton County Speedway. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods were the top attraction for the 10th annual event with a $1,500-to-win 20-lap feature.

Make-up features plus full show on tap Sunday at The Bullring

 Those unable to attend the July 14 Urbana 5 Memorial will still have the chance to see the stars shine Sunday at Benton County Speedway. The special main events for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by Wright Way Trailers and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods fell to rain last weekend and have been rescheduled for this Sunday, July 21.

Big payouts, great cause this Sunday at Benton County Speedway’s 10th Urbana 5

 Benton County Speedway marks a milestone event this Sunday, hosting the 10th annual Urbana 5 Memorial. Five IMCA sanctioned divisions are on the card for the July 14 special, held to remember the five area youth killed in a 2015 traffic accident near Urbana, and to encourage people to become organ and tissue donors. An Iowa Donor Network representative will be located in a booth under the grandstand at The Bullring that evening.

Sprint Invaders headline this Sunday at Benton County Speedway

The Sprint Invaders are returning to Benton County Speedway. The 360 sprint car tour will be in action this Sunday, July 7 at Benton County Speedway for its second and final appearance of the season. Paul Nienhiser topped a field of 18 sprints in the series’ first appearance of the season at The Bullring on May 5.  IMCA Weekly Racing will comprise the balance of the night’s action and will feature IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by iHeart Radio and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts.
