Benton County approves the hiring of Assistant County Attorney

Following the resignation of Benton County assistant attorney Tim Dille, the County Attorney's office was in need of a replacement. Approval was given by the Benton County Supervisors on Wednesday to hire Attorney Alisha Stach-Lorang. Her work experience includes working in Dubuque, Linn and Blackhawk Counties. She comes with more than 25 years of experience.

Shellsburg man arrested, charged with 1st Degree Murder

In a criminal complaint filed in Tama County Shellsburg resident, Huston William Danker, 27 was the second suspect arrested in connection with a 2021 murder of Ryan Roy Cooper of Traer.Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation's (DCI) Major Crime Unit and the Tama County Sheriff's Office arrested Danker in Cedar Rapids. He was then transported to Tama County where he was charged with first degree murder, a Class A felony.

UPDATE: CLOSURE OF U.S. 218 IN VINTON NOW BEGINS ON MONDAY, MAY 13

Updated: April 30 If you drive on U.S. 218 in Vinton you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may impact your trip according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office.Beginning on Monday, May 13 until late June, weather permitting, crews will close part of U.S. 218 in Vinton so culvert replacement work can take place.

The appointee would serve through 2025 until the next municipal election.First up was Jr Shemmel. Shemmel along with his wife and son has lived in Vinton since 1998. His wife Deb retired three years ago from Virginia Gay Hospital, and Shemmel retired from the U.
