With bull sale season upon us, Iowa State University (ISU) beef extension staff will be prepping producers for the gamut of information headed their way in A.I. books and sale catalogs. Two meetings have been planned for producers wanting to learn more about genomic-enhanced EPDs, how to implement $Value Indexes into selection methods, and estrus synchronization program options.
Permit to Carry course to be offered in Vinton
A course for Iowans to obtain their Permit to Carry Weapons has been scheduled in the area. The four hour course covers handgun safety, gun handling, carry options, situational awareness, interaction with law enforcement, use of force, and state and federal laws. The course teaches students how to be safe and efficient with a firearm for personal protection.
Beef Feedlot Roundtable Sessions Offered at Five Iowa Locations
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the University of Nebraska are teaming up to offer a Feedlot Roundtable session at five Iowa locations on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon. Iowa State Extension beef program specialist Russ Euken said the feedlot roundtable sessions are offered annually in Nebraska for feedlot operators and interested agribusiness people.
