Fair Board Receives Loan as part of effort for Grandstand Renovation

The Benton County Fair Board is seeking funding to complete projects around the fairgrounds. The current project is renovating the grandstands. The project will be converting old wooden benches into aluminum seating. The total cost of this project will be $170,000.Fair Board members Nichole McKenna, Dale Seeck and Kirk Steinford approached the Benton County Board of Supervisors concerning financial help to renovate the grandstands at the fairgrounds.

February 10, 2022The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in a special session at 6:00 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Office Building in Vinton. Supervisor Seeman called the meeting to order with Supervisors Seeman, Primmer and Bierschenk present.Discussion was held on the FY23 county budget. Budget topics ranged from the upcoming 911 Radio system project, mental health, roads and other budget concerns, along with using ARPA funds for county projects.

Work release escape of Ronald Kelly

Ronald Kelly, convicted of Robbery 2nd Degree in Polk County, failed to report back to the Fort Des Moines Correctional facility as required yesterday. Kelly is a 28-year-old Black male, height 5' 9", and weighs 228 pounds. He was admitted to the work release facility on 12/28/2021. Persons with information on Kelly's whereabouts should contact local police.
