Hello District 75 from the State Capitol!With this weekend’s cold blast, I hope you have to spend as little time as possible outside! This coming week will provide us with a taste of artic chill, so please plan accordingly!This last Monday I chaired the subcommittee meeting for House File 77, which student drivers with no home internet access can be permitted to drive to places with internet access when their school classes require it.
Governor Removes Mask Restrictions and other Restrictions
.On Friday the Governor issued a new proclamation removing several restrictions concerning COVID. While it is not spelled out in the new proclamation, the difference is seen in what is NOT in the new proclamation.-Iowans are no longer required to wear masks in public. -Businesses are no longer required to limit the number of customers or require social distancing.

I had four subcommittee meetings this week as well as committee meetings for Transportation and Local Government. Wednesday afternoon was spent floor debating a number of bills. One of the bills we discussed was Senate File 231, allowing a person holding a special minor’s driver’s license who resides on a farm or is working on a farm in Iowa to operate a motor vehicle between 5 a.

Vinton City Council undecided on plan to fill the 4th Ward Seat
With the passing of the 4th Ward Councilman, Nathan Hesson, the City Council discussed the options for filling his seat on the council at last week's City Council meeting. There was a discussion at Thursday's meeting about which route the council should go. The council has two options. They can either appoint someone to fill the seat or hold a special election.
