February 9, 2021The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in special session at the Emergency Management Agency Office in the Benton County Law Enforcement Center. Supervisor Primmer called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. Supervisors Seeman, Primmer and Bierschenk were also present. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.The purpose of the meeting was to be present during the public hearing on the FY22 Emergency Management Agency budget.

February 11, 2021The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in special session at 6:00 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Office Building in Vinton. Supervisor Seeman called the meeting to order with Supervisor’s Seeman, Primmer and Bierschenk present.Discussion was held on the FY22 county budget. Budget topics ranged from road discussions, mental health, transportation building, property tax assessments, 911 Radio system project and other issues.

Rep. Gerhold Leads Bill to Prevent Distracted Driving Through the Iowa House

 On Wednesday, February 10th, Representative Thomas Gerhold (R-Atkins) of House District 75 successfully floor managed legislation to help prevent against distracted driving.House File 380 requires driver’s education courses to include instruction on distracted driving along with the current requirements on instruction concerning substance abuse.

The weather has been quite the polar blast this last week and into this week. I hope you’re staying warm without too much difficulty. I’m sure almost everyone is using good judgment and limiting anytime spent outside.On Monday, February 8th, I was part of a Natural Resources subcommittee for House Study Bill 157. Under this bill, hunters using a dog to track or harvest a fur-bearing animal must ask the property owner before the hunting dog is allowed to enter the property.

The Driscoll Dispatch by Senator Dawn Driscoll Week 5

This was week 5 in the Senate and it was a very productive week! There were a number of exciting things that I was a part of this week. I was assigned as the chair for SSB 1144, which is a bill that was proposed by the governor. I was so excited when I was asked to be chair for a bill the governor proposed to make some great adjustments to the current Beginning Farmer Tax Credit Program.
