Call to Order
President Sue Gates called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.at the High School Media Center.

Roll Call / Pledge of Allegiance
Board members Sue Gates, Jason Hicok, Mike Timmermans, Rob Levis, Kathy Van Steenhuyse,
along with Mary Jo Hainstock, Superintendent, and Brenda Barkdoll, Business Manager/Board Secretary/
Treasurer were present.
Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners to be Elected in November
Now that you have made it through the primary elections of this cycle, there is one more race to be decided by your ballot in November.
Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners will be elected in 100 districts throughout Iowa this November. These elected volunteers have been working with voluntary, private land soil and water conservation in Iowa since 1939.
School Board Minutes, May 9th
Board President Sue Gates called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 9th at the high school in the media center. All board members were present with the exception of Brenda Bartz and Kyle Schminke.
The board welcomed FFA officers who shared an overview of their work towards meeting their 2015-16 goals for the year. Although not one of their goals, they acknowledged being named the number one chapter in the state and that they’ll be recognized at next fall’s national convention.

The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present. The chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.
Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.
Wiley moved/ Hertle seconded: Approve minutes of April 26, 2016. Motion Carried.
Wiley moved/ Hertle seconded: Approve workflow to have a review and assessment of Benton County’s IT program.
Benton County Democrats to meet May 17th
The regular meeting of the Benton County Democrats will be held at LaReyna Restaurant in Vinton on 4th St. At 7:00PM on May 17, 2016. Come early if you plan to eat.
The 1st District Congressional Candidate forum with candidates Monica Vernon and Pat Murphy will be Friday, May 13- 7:00 pm at the Tama Ballroom, 1411 E 5th St. Tama.
Benton SWCD Commissioners will Meet May 18, 2016
The next regular meeting of the Benton Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners will meet at 8:00 a.m. at the District office in Vinton. Items on the agenda include minutes from previous meetings, financial reports, introduction of the new NRCS District Consercavationist, conservation plans, Federal and State cost share programs, Watershed Project activities, discussion of Conservatio Award Nominees and other general business.
