Benton County Democrats to meet January 20

The regular meeting of the Benton County Democrats will be held on Tuesday,  January 20, 2015, at the Pizza Ranch in Vinton at 7:00pm. A Dutch-treat  buffet will be available before the meeting. Anyone interested in working  with the Democrats this year is invited to attend this informational  meeting. 

Vinton council meeting to include discussion of animal shelter concerns

For the Vinton City Council, the new year will begin with an old issue that has been a topic of discussion for years: Animal control and the animal shelter. On the agenda for the first meeting of 2015 is a discussion about the condition and size of the shelter. “We are asking for a humane plan,” says Donita Casey of Friends of the Shelter, Inc.

Benton Co. Sheriff's Office report/arrest log, Dec. 2014

Benton County Sheriff Randall Forsyth reports that deputies answered 318 calls for service and investigated 23 accidents. Deputies attempted to serve 90 civil papers and issued 63 traffic citations and 85 traffic warnings. There were 30 arrests/juvenile referrals with 38 charges being filed in December 2014. (9) were felony charges, (19) were simple misdemeanors, and (10) were indictable misdemeanors.

Benton County Board of Supervisors minutes for December 16, 2014

December 16, 2014 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Frese, Hertle and Wiley present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Moved by Wiley, seconded by Hertle, to approve the minutes of December 8, 2014 and December 10, 2014. All members voting aye thereon. Motion carried. Moved by Wiley, seconded by Hertle, to adopt Resolution #14-70, Approving the Benton County Public Health Rule #60-1.
