Timothy Allen Hoskins

Timothy Allen Hoskins, age 45, was unexpectedly taken from his friends and family way too soon on May 2, 2022.  He passed away peacefully at his home in Walford, IA.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Clover Ridge United Methodist Church in Walford with Pastor Kolleen Queener officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM, until 1:00 PM, Saturday, also at the church.

Seaman First Class David Franklin Tidball

Seaman First Class David Franklin Tidball, 20, of Independence, Iowa, died December 7, 1941, aboard the USS Oklahoma during the attack on Pearl Harbor at the beginning of World War Two. On March 3, 2021, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that his remains had been recovered and identified and will be brought back to Iowa for Interment in the Tidball Family Plot.

Charles William (Doc) Troup D.V.M

Charles William (Doc) Troup D.V.M, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday at Center Point Cemetery. Charles was born on March 12, 1940, to Harry and Mary (Randol) Troup in Maxwell, Iowa.

Thomas Ohrt

Thomas Ohrt, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at his home in Vinton.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 until 1 PM, Saturday, also at the funeral home.Thomas was born, on June 24, 1956, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Keith and Stella (Baldwin) Ohrt and graduated from Washinton High School in Vinton with the class of 1975.

Ronald LeRoy Hunt

Ronald LeRoy Hunt, age 67, left this life on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in the woods at Red Brush, where he lived his solitary life, with his cats nearby. A celebration of life will be held to honor him on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 4:30 until 8:00 PM at the Pleasant Creek South Pavilion by the boat dock. He is survived by 2 children, Ronny Hunt of Marion, and Toni Hunt of Williamsburg; 6 grandchildren; brother Bill (Toodie) Hunt of Shellsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth Evelyn (Beggs) Failor

Ruth Evelyn (Beggs) Failor was born on July 30, 1931, in Sioux City, Iowa to Vivian Irene (Cobb) Beggs and John Elroy Beggs, their third child. She was born premature, weighing just under four pounds at birth. She was strong-willed and determined from the start. Ruth survived birth but not without subsequent complications. Due to her small size, she was placed in an incubator.

Nancy Jo Kindred

Nancy Jo Kindred, 67, of Palo, died on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at St. Luke’s following a short illness. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at the Palo Community Center. Burial will be held at a later date.  Teahen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.Nancy is survived by her husband, Gary; three sons, Matthew (Robyn) Morris of Central City, Joseph (Heather) Morris of Quasqueton, and Jeremiah Morris (Karen Stearns) of Palo; eight grandchildren, Kanan, Kolby, Kashden, Kingsley, Rhyley, Rhyker, Rhyett, and Jeffrey; great grandson, Weston; two brothers, Roger (Bonnie) Bentley of Shellsburg, and Gordon Wayne (Deanna) Bentley of Amber, OK; brother in-law, Jerry (Lisa) Kindred of Palo and many nieces and nephews.

Lori Ann Hunter

Lori Ann Hunter, 60, of Independence, passed Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Mercy One Waterloo Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1962, in Independence, the daughter of Glen and Barbara Riggle Larson.She was a 1980 graduate of Independence High School; she received her Bachelor's Degree from the United States Air Force in 2000; and her Master's Degree in Business from Americus University, Washington DC, in 2004.

Bonita “Bonnie” Louise Ott

Bonita “Bonnie” Louise Ott, 75, of Sunnycrest Manor in Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, April 13, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.She was born on Dec. 10, 1946, in Sandusky, Ohio, and graduated from St Mary’s Catholic High School in 1964.In 1965, she entered the Dominican Convent, known as Sister Elise.

Betty Lahue

Betty Lahue, 96, died Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence, IA. Services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home in Vinton. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana, IA. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.Betty is survived by three daughters: Catherine Hoppe, Terry Manning and Sandi (Steve) Elgin; son, Tracy (Debb) Lahue; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
