Mary Ellen Primmer, age 82, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Mercy One Hospital in Waterloo.Private family graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.Mary Ellen was born October 24, 1938 in Vinton, the daughter of Chauncey and Clara (Stoller) Primmer. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton. Mary Ellen worked as an Assistant Librarian at the Vinton Public Library and operated a bookstore, "Mary's Book Nook" for a number of years.

Michael John Van Thournout, 76, of Van Horne, IA passed away September 7, 2021 at Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.Michael was born April 5, 1945 to August Julian and Florence Catherine (Van Waus) Van Thournout in Belle Plaine, IA. He attended Country School Hartford #8 and graduated from HLV in 1963. Following school, Michael joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Japan and Vietnam.
